It covers a wide range of applications, for example in automotive, mechanical and appliance engineering. With the i9, splines can be formed in classic lightweight sheet-metal carriers, in ring gears for planetary gearsets, as well as internal drive splines in thick-walled parts. The machine also opens up new opportunities in joining technology, for example for directly joining different components through forming or clinching.

Like all Grob machines, the i9 Internal Forming Machine is based on a refined machine concept focused on efficiency, flexibility and easy maintenance, drawing on decades of experience in building cold-forming machines.

It uses the proven Grob internal impact punch process and can be equipped with up to four different tools.

This allows the forming of parts that were previously difficult or only feasible at high cost, representing a real step forward in designing function-integrated components.

The splines produced in this way offer economic efficiency, high precision and surface quality, combined with the well-known advantages of cold forming: no destruction of the material structure, work hardening, improved material properties, material savings, low distortion during heat treatment, and more.
